Things to do

Your event at The Old Neptune is for you to savour and enjoy as you wish. In fact our guests never cease to amaze us with the variety of their entertainment discoveries including silent disco, karaoke, silhouette painting, afternoon jazz band, harpist, casino, line dancing class, cocktail making class, tai chi: the list is pretty much as endless as your imaginations and interests!

However, a little piece of advice, try not to organise too much as guests just seem to love staying at the house!

Local places of interest (a very small selection of the delights on offer in Suffolk!)

  • this website is a good first port of call for all things local.
  • Christchurch Mansion – a beautiful Tudor mansion, situated in nearby Christchurch Park -
  • Shopping: St Peters Street is only a short stroll away and has a number of independent fashion boutiques and interior shops. You can then continue walking into the town centre, which is pedestrianised and has a good selection of all the usual high street stores, including a Lakeland which is housed in another fine old Tudor building ‘The Ancient House’. (although it isn’t as old as The Old Neptune!)
  • Woodbridge Market town -
  • Woodbridge/River Deben/Sutton Hoo - about 15 minutes’ drive. Enjoy a walk by the river or a browse in the many independent shops and cafes along Market Hill and the high street of this delightful market town. Then go on to visit the Anglo Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo, a National Trust favourite.
  • The Coast - Felixstowe and Aldeburgh are about 20 minutes’ drive if you fancy some sea air to blow the cobwebs (or perhaps the hangover) away!
  • Constable Country – enjoy the beautiful area that Constable loved to paint. There is a National Trust cottage/café, stunning walks or it’s fun to hire a rowing boat and enjoy the scenery from the river
  • - about 10 minutes’ drive. High quality food hall overlooking the river, with locally sourced produce and award winning butchers, also a great café, restaurant, garden centre and jumping pillow on site.
  • of TV fame, about 10 minutes’ drive
